Take A Quick Google Page Speed Online Test to Analyze Website Load Time

April 5th, 2011 No comments

Around a year ago I wrote a post on Google Page Speed. That is basically a performance test through which Google analyzes your webpage content and based on that Google gives you a score and suggestion on how you can improve your page load speed by altering your webpage elements. But for that you had to previously install add-on on your Firefox browser, but now this feature has become browser independent. You can use this cool web-based version of Page Speed that has been introduced in Google Labs. Just go there and enter the url of the site that you want to do a speed test of. Then Google will check your page and return a grade out of 100 with summary of how you can increase the speed performance.

Google Launches +1 Button to Socialize Search More And More

March 31st, 2011 No comments

It’s hard! It’s really getting damn hard for me! The days are passing by and I am getting more and more lazy to write a nice little blog post. Everyday I think I will write tomorrow, but tomorrow never dies! But Google has just rolled out another feature to socialize and personalize their search even more. And that made me do this post :)

Check Whether Your Google Apps are Down or Not From A Single Page

March 5th, 2011 No comments

Many of you might have read that data from around 150,000 Gmail accounts got disappeared recently. Obviously that was temporary :)

But I can now afford a smile because I know about the issue. That was surely not the case that all those Gmail users might have felt when they opened their mailbox and found it empty, and they had no idea what had happened.

Google Takes Another Big Step to Take Down Low Quality Sites

February 25th, 2011 No comments

I updated you last month about Google implementing a new algorithm that would affect the rankings of scrapper sites. According to Google, it would have affected about 2.5% of search queries. But just a few days ago Google has released an even bigger algorithmic change with the same thing in mind, reduce the rankings of shallow sites that copy content from others or don’t have useful content for the users. This would impact around 11.8% of search queries, with websites containing original content and in-depth and useful material will go up in rankings and low quality websites will go down. This algorithmic change has only been rolled out in the U.S. currently.

Google enabled this two step verification for Google Apps users few months back. Now they are rolling it out to all of their users. Whatever Google apps you are using whether it is Gmail, Adsense or Analytics you basically sign in through a common Google account. So you just need to active this extra validation from your Google account and it will cover all of them.

Algorithmic Change Implemented to Affect Scraper Sites

January 31st, 2011 No comments

Google Engineer Matt Cutts has written a follow-up post in his personal blog on search engine spam post that he wrote on Official Google Blog recently. I have covered that official Google post in my last blog post. I thought I should update you on this. According to this post, last week Google has implemented one change in their algorithm that will help to rank low quality sites or sites that copy from others less than the original sites. That was a pretty targeted launch that might slightly change only 2% of search queries. But that is big enough to be noticed.

Google Search Now Shifting Focus on Content Farm Manipulation

January 27th, 2011 No comments

Have you gone through the latest update from Matt Cutts on Official Google Blog? There is an interesting aspect of Google going into a battle with the content farms to stop them from maneuvering Google search rankings. According to the post, as Google has been able to decrease traditional webspam over the period of time, now they are sifting their concentration to remove spammy or shallow content from Google search added by content farms. Last year, they launched two major algorithmic changes focused on low-quality sites. But they are still working on taking stronger actions against content farms to stop them manipulating results with lots of low-quality content.

Pac-Man Eating Up Google!

October 19th, 2010 2 comments

Yeah! Our little old friend Pac-Man is eating Google inside up, literally. Check this page.

Now do you believe me ;)

That Google logo had been designed to celebrate Namco Pac-Man’s 30th anniversary on 21st May this year. But Google has kept this page as a showcase I think. More importantly you can really play the Pacman game as with any other web version. The difference is that you are eating up Google logo to win :)
